I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the guys past and
present who served in the Royal Irish a peaceful and happy new year.
I would especially like to wish old comrades Isaac Hall, Davy Howey,
Jim Downey, Norman Webster, Ray Boyd, Stan Tidy, Noel Mc Connell, Sid
Wilson, Bobby Harrison, Shakey Mc Donald, Corkey Mc Sweeney, Danny
Devraux, and all the guys who know me all they could wish for in
2006.
It was so good to see the old Depot St Patricks this summer and see
the many guys I knew, to hear the Bugles, Pipes and Drums together
with the Band of the Regiment it still moves my soul to hear the music
of Our Regiment. It was even better to see old comrades at the
remembrance ceremony in Dublin last summer at last those who served
are being afforded the respect they deserve.
For those who read this post may your God, who ever you deem him to be
bring all you wish for in 2007. May those who represent us North and
South continue to work to towards a peace which respects those who
fell in our name so that we can live in the peace and comfort we live
in.
