To Ranger Cyril Smith QGM
A belated farewell from one who was there:
At Romeo 15 he stood alone on the road,
A quiet night just after 4,
Who could believe we would see him no more.
The slow van approached laden with weight,
Driver in panic his life was at stake.
Realising the danger with no fear for himself,
He raised the alarm make no mistake.
No time for escape just saves his muckers,
It's important to note you were not just a soldier,
you were a RANGER, a HERO, like no other,
GOD BLESS CYRIL.

The Warminster branch of The Royal Irish Rangers Association were
represented across Wiltshire on Rememberance Sunday. Members took part
in Parades in Warminster,Westbury,Bradford on Avon.Salisbury and
Tidworth, Bulford. Many members supported thier comrades by braving the
cold weather to watch the parades
It is purely voluntary for our members to attend these parades, but in
the great tradition of the Rangers the caubeen was seen on parade
throughout Wiltshire.
The branch paid particular attention to their own dead on Wednesday
8th of November when Hughie mckeown,Jimmy toner and Geordie richmond
travelled to Tidworth Military Cemetary to pay their respects .
Crosses complete with poppies were placed on each respective grave
belonging to the Royal Irish Rangers/ Regiment.

For those that have been on at me about the George Best Fivers -
You cannot go into an Ulster Bank and get same over the counter. An
application must be completed by post with payment up front to a
special section within Ulster Bank HQ. I thus will not have them on me
next week in Chester. I will however bring the application packs - any
individual can order 10 of them, and distribute accordingly to those
interested who can apply themselves.

My very warm congratulations to young Nigel Bradley on his commission.
Great to see Joe Pemberton on the site also. As I remember it we took
both you lads as part of the first draft from the depot to go straight
into SP Coy - They said at the time it could not be down but again I
think we had both of you as two of the youngest cpls in the Regiment -
did you ever get to Brecon though?...Well done mate, I remember when
it looked like the Gulf the first time that big Tommy Turtle was
offered to the Mortars as Pl Comd.... it would beat the heck out the
MT!
