The Northern Ireland Veterans Association Annual Memorial Service,
22 Sept :11.30 am
The service will be held at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas,
Staffs. We will, on the day, be remembering and paying tribute to
those members of the Military, Police and Prison Service who gave
their lives during the fight for peace in Northern Ireland. The day
will consist of a service within the chapel at the arboretum followed
by a short march to the Ulster Ash Grove for the laying of wreaths.
We will then be raising a glass to absent friends at the Royal British
Legion, Alrewas.

For the yonger element who probably did not know Mick Fann, he was one
of those that you could probably say was a soldier of fortune.
Officer Norfolk Regiment, left under a cloud, joined the French
Foreign Legion, left very quick, joined the Royal Irish Fusiliers,
served for two years with the SAS, back to Fusiliers, champion
heavyweight boxer. He could empty a beer barrell, or the bar - if the
mood took him! Mick was a good friend that helped me out of some very
dodgy situations, usually caused through alcohol. I bet he is still
arguing with someone!
