Damien Plaice and Bic who are based at the Infantry Training Centre
(ITC) in Catterick Garrison,
Tom Ripley and I have been in regular contact with each other for some
weeks now.
The discussions centre mainly around the Forthcoming Remembrance
Sunday Parade in Richmond Yorkshire.
It is hoped to have as many Yorkshire Branch members present on the
Remembrance Sunday Parade as possible.
There will Damien Plaice informs me be some 10 serving Rangers (NCOs)
and Bic informed me 9 new Ranger Recruits will be attending the
Parade.
Hopefully this will give the Parade a very good showing of Caubeens on
the day as the Battalion are keen to have the Regiment brought into
the fore as much as possible.
To this end, Bic and I discussed that it would be a good idea to send
out an open invite to any Branch/Ranger who wishes to attend the
Richmond Remembrance Parade.
We are sure some Branches and individual Rangers will have made
arrangements locally to attend a similiar parade but should anyone
wish to make the journey to be with us on the day then all would be
made very welcome.
Tom Ripley (our Branch Secretary) has been making enquiries of the
Royal British Legion (Parade Organisers) to ensure the Rangers
attending the Parade including the laying of the Rangers wreath is ok
to go ahead. We have been informed that all is well and we are very
welcome to March.
I have (with Toms assistance) provided the contact details to Bic for
Damien or Bic to contact the Richmond Town Clerk to enquire if the
Padre/Priest will during his short sermon give a mention of our
recently fallen comrades in Afghanistan.
Damien or Bic will also ask if we can provide a Bugler to sound the
Last Post as there is a Piper only on Parade and indeed if we (the
Rangers) can provide the Guard Of Honour at the Cenotaph in
Richmond.
We have been informed that this has already been arranged by the Town
Council but that the Officer in charge of the Remembrance Sunday
Parade is stationed in the ITC so we may if Damien or Bic get to talk
to him yet get to be the Guard Of Honour.
Following the Remembrance Parade it will be a visit to the nearby
Comrades Club for a few Tipples and Buffet as is regularly provided
following the Parade by the Comrades Club.
Damien Plaice informed me that he has organised transport for all
Rangers from the Comrades Club Richmond to the Arc Club Catterick for
some more Tipples then around 5pm each person make their way to the
WOs & Sergeants Mess at Vimy Barracks Catterick Garrison for yet more
Tipples (1 a pint) for the remainder of the night at the Mess.
As I said, all Branches/Rangers are welcome to attend the Remembrance
Parade, the Comrades, Arc Clubs and the Mess.
Hopefully some of you will join us as it is a Remembrance Sunday
Parade with a very close meaning for the Regiment this year.
However if you are unable to join us I wish you all a safe journey to
and from your various parades on the day with the reflection that the
recent loss of our Brave Comrades and their Families will be uppermost
in all our thoughts during the two minutes silence.
