I left the Royal Irish Rangers in 1975. On my discharge I was told that on reaching my 60th year I would be intitled to a yearly pension, can anyone out there in Rangerland give me any advice on this subject or indeed who I should get in touch with. I served for a total of nine years with both Batts and at the depot. I might add that I am 60 in sept 08.

Further to my last message re Jack Harte "to the limits of endurance" the book is available on line from" libertiespress.com"
I would recommend this book as a good read for ex soldiers and those presently serving as it is written from an ordinary soldiers point of view . Theres plenty of wit and jargon that is as common today as it was then .

Hello I have just finished a book called "the road to the somme" by Phillip Orr. in the acknowledgements it says you can trace relatives or get assistance from " Irelands memorial Records 1914-1918, 8vol's (privately printed for the committee of the Irish National war Memorial, 1923)
I copied this as it appears in the book I hope it is of some use to you in your research.
