In November 07 I was respectfully asked and voted in as chairman to East Belfast Royal Irish Rangers Association a task which I fully embraced in order to promote and support the branch to the best of my ability.
Regretfully however any day now I am off to the sands and the ranks of the wild geese in Saudi Aarabia overlooking the red sea.
It is therefore with regret that I must stand down as chairman and wish my sucessor whoever they may be good luck.
During my time I have enjoyed the craic from both former 1st & 2nd batt immensely and wish all the members, wives and partners all the best for the future and will watch this website behind a sanddune to ensure you keep it going and will attend on my home trips.

I have been doing some research regarding the involvement of Irish regiments duringWW2 and i came across a character called red cushen.
He appears to have led a very colourful military career,He was from Tipperary and served with the IRA, US army Spanish civil war and finally with the Royal Irish Fusiliers.
He was a POW during the war having been captured in 1940, he served with the Faughs until his retirement 1963.
He would have been slightly before me but I am sure that there are many ex faughs who would remember this character I would appreciate your comments
