A big thank you to the lads in the Dublin Branch for a great night on
the 15th. It took three years to track Willie Abbot down and the fact
that he was there made it a special night for Roy Kendall. It was
great to see Peewee who is still a roaring alcholic and it was a
pleasure to have a little chat with Major General Omarkhew. Also great
to see JOB and Joe Bollard. I brought Roy Kendall back the following
morning and replaced the ashtrays. No seriously lads thanks for an
absolutly fabulous night. The piper was good. To all serving and ex
members, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Sorry its a long message

To all Rangers home or abroad merry christmas and a peaceful new
year.
This christmas i will be standing in the desert of Afganistan in
Bastion to say a prayer beside a memorial made from a stone cairn
topped by a brass cross made from spent 30mm cannon shells. Beneath
this is a simple plaque with the names of 22 soldiers who have fallen
in Helmand in 2006. Amongst the names are those of Capt Patton, LCpl
Muirhead, LCpl McCollouch and Rgr Dravia. But this is not the place
to remember them, remember them standing shoulder to shoulder on
parade within the endless rows of Caubeen from rangers past, present
and future.
Merry Christmas Davy, Luke, Paul and Anare, rest in peace your job is
done.
To those many friends out there thank you for the kind words in
regards to my award of a Military Cross. When i look at the cross it
will always remind me of the brass cross in the deserts of Afganistan
and those who didn't return.
In the meantime merry christmas to you all make it a liquid one in
memory of our fallen friends.
(Gerry, sorry for the short story, just needed to say it)
