November '71.I entered the famous old barracks and it was there
were i learnt a lot of good things that was to point me in the right
direction for the life ahead.When i returned in '77 i learned a
lot more.On both occassions i worked and served with people who had
simply one aim in life.A love for the Regiment in which they had
enlisted into.A very,very sad day.

Firstly hello Stevie the wingnut Carlile hope your well been long time
hope all ok with you and your family. And as everyone is saying what a
let down not to have had something arranged so we the old boys could
go back to the depot one last time have a bit of a march off a pint
and an ole walk down memory lane that wouldn't have been not
much to ask for would it!! Well we have great memories and it in all
honestity straightened out a lot of wild boys and made us what we are
today (mostly) anyway nothing we can do now just remember never for
get the greatest days of our youngs lives in St Patricks . F.A.B

I totally agree with all the previous comments I am very proud to
have served in The Royal Irish Rangers . But I feel totally disgusted
by the way the depot was closed without any form of ceremony only the
chosen few being present most of whom I have no doubt did not even do
their training there. Those who were assembled there please come to
attention and collectively bow your heads in total shame!!

Well said John, those that are supposed to be leading our Regiment and
the OCA, should question themselves as to why we closed a major
chapter in our history without so mush as a Fare Thee Well
Perhaps they should remind themselves of a few lines from our
Regimental Collect...
ever mindful of our past inheritance, we, The Royal Irish Rangers may
continue faithfully in one bond of fellowship and service ....

What can one write about the ending of Banner and the closure of the
Regimental Depot that has not been said?
As Op Banner draws to a close we should all remember the sacrifice
made by our Gallant Comrades and those innocent civilians whose lives
where shattered by terrorism.
As our Depot closes, it is a disgrace that the Associations where not
involved but then with the individuals in RHQ, nothing surprises me -
Bull sums it up: what happened to "Family Regiment" ???
OSD will likely be the next to go.
Faugh a Ballagh to you all...
